THINK SNOW! 11-Dec-2007: Youth Leadership Training is set for Fri 14 Dec at 5:30pm at Messiah Lutheran Church on Hwy 72. See Mr. Perry's email for more details. This training is for all Troop 350 Scouts in leadership positions, including Assistant Patrol Leaders and adult Patrol Advisors. Wear your Class A with Scout-related T-shirt beneath. Pizza provided! Nov 2007 29-Nov-2007: Two Merit Badge College sessions are coming up! The first is at Athens State University on 5 Jan 2008 - enrollment is due by 22 Dec; see Mr. Hauser or Mr. Jenkins for details (and see their emails to the Troop Mailing List). The second is at Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham on 26 Jan - enrollment is due by 5 Jan; see Mr. Jenkins (and his email) for details. 29-Nov-2007: The Troop 350 family is invited to Aaron Thomas' Eagle Court of Honor on Sun 9 Dec at 2pm at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Sep 2007 01-Sep-2007: Trying to beat the heat? Wondering when Winter will finally arrive? Get a head start! The Winter Blast 2007 flyer is now available! Check it out! 13-Sep-2007: Court of Honor is planned for Mon 24 Sep! 13-Sep-2007: The next Double-H payment ($150) is due no later than Mon 24 Sep. There will also be a brief meeting for all participants and their parent(s) following the Troop Meeting on Mon 17 Sep. 13-Sep-2007: Everyone deserves a Trained Leader! Adults, the Troop is always looking for more people to help deliver the Promise of Scouting to our young men. Check out the Flyer for class details and registration form. 06-Aug-2007: Attention Candidates Elected to the Order of the Arrow: There are only 2 Ordeal Weekends left in 2007. - Aug 10-12 Ordeal Weekend at Camp Sequoyah. - Sep 7-9 Ordeal Weekend at Camp Comer You must complete one of these Ordeal weekends to become a member of OA. If you miss these opportunities, you'll have to go through the election process again next year (in short, don't miss one of these two opportunities). Please wear your activity uniform (aka Class B) -- Patrol leaders present ideas for individual Patrol activities for August to the SPL/PLC/Scoutmaster Jun 2007 20-Jun-2007: Two Eagle Projects are underway: Jayson Perry will be holding a Carwash Fundraiser on Friday 22 June at Arby's (corner of Hughes and HWY-72) at 3:00pm; Also, Carlos Hernandez has planned a work day on Sat 23 June, at Huntsville Christian Church (See flyer for details). 15-Jun-2007: Information on the upcoming Grimes Canoe Base outing (15-20 July) is included in this handy Grimes Canoe Base Outing Flyer. Check your calendars! Signups will begin at the next meeting. May 2007 26-May-2007: No Troop Meeting on Mon 28 May (Memorial Day observed). Please take a moment to reflect on those who served. 26-May-2007: Information on the upcoming Beach Campout (30 May - 2 June) is included in this handy Beach Campout Flyer. 08-May-2007: Two Eagle Projects to choose from this Saturday, 12 May: David Hauser will be working at St. John's starting at 10am - see David's Flyer for details, and Jayson Perry will be at Messiah Lutheran Church from 8am-2pm. Lunch provided at both events! 08-May-2007: Next meeting Mon 14 May: Adult Youth Protection Training session for ALL Troop 350 adults begins at 6:45pm. There will also be voting for your new ASPL. Please note that the Committee Meeting has been moved from 14 May to 21 May. Apr 2007 19-Apr-2007: Come celebrate and recognize the hard work and advancement of the Scouts of Troop 350 at the Court of Honor on Monday evening, April 23rd, at 7:00pm. If you have the time, come by at 6:30pm to watch the video presentation of the Troop's Ski Trip to Timberline. Come earlier still at 6:00pm and help move tables to the school gym in preparation for the St. John's Women's Club Yard Sale (earn those service hours!) 19-Apr-2007: Jason Perry will be working on his Eagle Project this Saturday morning from 8:00 to 10:00 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Please bring shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, work gloves, and Scout Spirit! 16-Apr-2007: If you're not camping at Oak Mountain, come to David Hauser's Eagle Project this Saturday 21 Apr at St. John's at 10:00 AM. Mar 2007 31-Mar-2007: MEETING LOCATION CHANGE: The Mon 02 Apr Troop Meeting will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church Parish Hall (7740 Hwy 72, just East of intersection of Hughes and Hwy-72, next to Redstone Federal Credit Union). Service patrol (Eagles) should arrive by 6:30pm to set up and be prepared to cleanup). 31-Mar-2007: Troop 350 Venture Patrol Tryouts will be held Sun 01 Apr at 1200 at Horizon Elementary School. Check out the Venture Patrol Description and Requirements. 31-Mar-2007: Adult Training at District Roundtable Thu 5 Apr at 7pm (Catholic High School at Wynn and Bradford), including Safe Swim Defense ancd Safety Afloat. This training is immediately applicable to any Troop water and boating activity (such as Grimes Canoe Trip!) 16-Mar-2007: NO MEETING on Mon 19 Mar - Think Snow for those going tothe Ski Trip at Timberline! Next meeting: Mon 26 Mar; Thorns & roses for Timberline, patrol corners, TBD game. 04-Mar-2007: Don't miss the Eagle Project Car Wash: Saturday March 17 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Texaco station on Hughes Road and Old Madison Pike. Service hours can be earned for all volunteers. Buckets, towels, and sponges are needed. Funds will be used to purchase supplies for David Hauser's Eagle Project (building an arbor and benches for St. John's Church). Lunch will be provided. 01-Mar-2007: Another Adult Training opportunity is available. Feb 2007 28-Feb-2007: There is an Adult Leader Training opportunity on 27-28 Apr at Camp Jackson. See the Outdoor Leader Training Flyer for details. 22-Feb-2007: The 8th annual Troop 350 Chili Dinner Fundraiser is scheduled for Sat 03 Mar at St. John's from 4-8pm. Families are asked to donate a dessert and and item for the Silent Auction. Scouts should be selling their tickets and turn in payment at the next meeting on Mon 26 Feb. See the Chili Dinner Fundraiser Flyer for more details. 22-Feb-2007: MEETING LOCATION CHANGE! The next Troop meeting on Mon 26 Feb will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7740 Highway 72 (beside Redstone Federal Credit Union in front of Home Depot, just east of Hughes). 23-Feb-2007: IMPORTANT SIPSEY OUTING NOTICE!! Due to a forecast of EXTREME weather Saturday evening, the Sipsey outing has been CHANGED to a DAY-HIKE, not an Overnight campout. Meet at St. John's at 7am, as originally planned, but NO NEED for overnight gear (tents, sleeping bag, etc). 13-Feb-2007: For those going or interested in going on the Sipsey All-Weather Backpacking Trip, check out the Sipsey Campout Flyer for details! Can't recall the username and/or password? Ask your friendly neighborhood webmaster! 06-Feb-2007: The Merit Badge Counselor list has been updated! Check out the (protected) file on the Rank Advancement page. If you don't remember the username and password, just send a note to the Webmaster. Also, on that same page are Merit Badges for which the Troop has no Counselor. Take a look if you think you'd like to help out! Jan 2007 27-Jan-2007: Sign-up this Monday for Scoutreach Activities Day at Alabama A&M University on 17 Feb. Merit badge courses, community and cultural displays will be on hand. 08-Jan-2007: Adult Leader training opportunities continue with a Leave no Trace (LNT) Trainer Workshop at Camp Westmoreland on 26-28 Jan. Registration required; see the LNT Flyer for details. 07-Jan-2007: Troop 350 Annual Ski Trip is RAPIDILY APPROACHING. Cost is roughly $220 for 2 Days Skiing, Lodging, Tour Bus Transportation and Resort Food. See attached Ski Trip Flyer for more details. However we need at least 36 people signed up to reserve the Bus. Initial Deposit of $70 dollars is due to Mr. Hauser by Jan 20th (make checks out to Troop 350). 05-Jan-2007: Talakto District is holding FREE Supplemental Leader Training on Saturday, 20 Jan at Asbury Church from 0900-1200. Three parallel sessions are offered. See the Training Flyer for details.
