- 05-Nov-2008: Troop 350 Summer Camp for 2009 is Camp Woodruff in Blairsville, Georgia Sign-ups have begun and the cost per scout is $255. The initial deposit is $100 and is due by 1 Jan 09 to ensure the troop meets the Camp Woodruff payment date. If you have any questions, please see Mr Pletcher at the troop meetings.

- 25-Aug-2008: Mr. Drury is offering Cycling Merit Badge and has set up a Troop 350 Cycling Merit Badge Webpage to keep all you participants up to date. Keep spinning!
- 25-Aug-2008: The next Troop 350 Campout is at Monte Sano on 12-14 Sep. The theme: "Scouting is a Game With A Purpose." Come play some great new games, clean up those few pesky rank requirements, and see the Planetarium Show. Meet at St. Johns at 5:15pm (don't forget the Class A's and Parent's signature!). We'll be back Sun by 10:00am.
- 10-Aug-2008: Our Future Is Now! Please plan to attend one of the eight informational meetings that will be conducted throughout the Greater Alabama Council over the next three weeks. These meetings are designed to inform you of the council's long range plans for program and properties, as well as solicit your feedback on those plans so they can be modified as necessary to meet your needs and desires. Each of the eight meetings will be identical, so plan to attend the one most convenient for you. The meetings are open to anyone (including older Scouts and Venturers) with an interest in the future of the Greater Alabama Council. The times and places of the meetings are as follows (all meetings are at 6:00 PM):

- 24-Jun-2008: The July trip will be to the Grimes Canoe Base. The Canoe Trip is a 5 day/50 mile canoe trip. We will be leaving at 12:00 on Sunday 13 July and arrive back on Thursday at around 5:30 pm. The estimated cost is approximately $106 per person. Signups will be at Mon 30 June meeting ($40 deposit). - 26-Apr-2008: Spring Camporee is here! May 2-4 at Sharon Johnston Park. See the 2008 Spring Camporee flyer for details along with the Rifle and Shotgun shooting information (including required form).
- 26-Apr-2008: A troopwide camping activity is planned for 16-18 May and includes a hiking trip on the Blue Beaver trail following the route of soldiers during the Civil War, along with overnighting at the Chickamauga Battlefield which is full of trails and memorials to see. A visit to the Chattanooga Nature Center will also be included. Scouts who complete the hike requirements will receive the Blue Beaver Trail patch. - 06-Apr-2008: For all Scouts going to Camp Comer this summer, it is time to make another payment towards camp. While some scouts are paid in full already, most scouts still owe $125. The Council needs to have all of the names of scouts attending and all of the money owed by Troop 350 by 15 May. To ensure the Troop has adequate time to verify names, payments, and submit before the 15 May Council due date, all scout camp fees should be paid in full by 1 May. This allows the Troop adequate time to ensure all administrative details are correct before we submit. If you have questions, please see Mr Pletcher at the Troop meeting, or send him an e-mail.

- 11-Mar-2008: Every scout deserves a Trained Leader! Current and Want-To-Be Leaders are encouraged to attend! Two great opportunities are now available. Various training courses are available on Sat 29 Mar at Huntsville Christian Church - see the Basic Adult Leader Training Flyer for details. The second opportunity is Outdoor Leader Skills training at Camp Westmoreland on 9-10 May. Check out the OLS Flyer for details. - 12-Mar-2008: Attention Personal Fitness (PF) Scouts! There is no meeting at Horizon Elementary this Sunday, 16 March. Enjoy Spring Break, BUT DO YOUR EXERCISES AND FILL OUT THOSE LOGS! No logs, no credit! Don't forget the all important Heartrate and Body Composition measurements as well! We'll meet again on Sun 30 Mar (note we are "skipping" our meeting on Easter Sunday as well, the 23rd).

- 24-Feb-2008: Signups for Comer Summer Camp Merit Badges MUST be done by the Troop Meeting on Monday 25 Feb. If you wont be there, please send your request to Mr. Johnston directly at "Johnston5@knology.net" Also, for those that have not yet turned in the $75 deposit, please bring it to the meeting.
- 24-Feb-2008: Personal Fitness Merit Badge (Eagle Required) will begin Sunday, March 2 at Horizon School at 1:00PM. Personal Fitness is "Eagle Required" and requires a serious commitment of time and effort to earn. It requires 12 weeks of exercise, a written exercise plan and a 12 week daily exercise log. If you're mature enough to make this long term commitment, come to Horizon School on Sunday in workout clothes. You'll be doing push-ups, sit-ups, stretching and running the mile to establish your baseline measurements. After Sunday, we'll be meeting again every 2 weeks, for 12 weeks for re-testing.
- 12-Feb-2008: Since there will be no meeting on 18 February due to President's Day Holiday, all scouts who signed up for Summer Camp and have not yet turned in the $75 deposit should bring their deposits to the meeting on 25 February. The Troop needs to finalize commitments for all scouts who want to attend camp. If you signed up and have not yet paid, please see Mr. Pletcher on the 25th.

- 11-Dec-2007: Youth Leadership Training is set for Fri 14 Dec at 5:30pm at Messiah Lutheran Church on Hwy 72. See Mr. Perry's email for more details. This training is for all Troop 350 Scouts in leadership positions, including Assistant Patrol Leaders and adult Patrol Advisors. Wear your Class A with Scout-related T-shirt beneath. Pizza provided!
