Welcome to the Troop 350 Summer Camp 2006 PageHere is where you'll find information about the Troop visit to Camp Woodruff on July 17-21. Most of this great information is provided by Mr. Jim Deming, Campmaster. Camp Overview and PresentationCheck out the updated Camp Presentation ( PPT | PDF ) which includes information about:
Camp Schedules and PaymentsDownload the latest Camp Payment Spreadsheet and check your balance. The final payment is scheduled for 5 June.Mr. Hanson has provided an updated weekly camp schedule ( Excel | PDF ) for all Scouts and Scouters. Remember to fill out those Blue Cards at the next meeting (10 July). Packing ListsMr. Hauser has offered up a recommended packing list ( Word | PDF ) for individuals and for the needed Troop Gear ( Word | PDF ). Take a look to double-check you have what you need for a great trip! Also note! "Everything that goes to Camp, Doesn't always come home from Camp." So parents, you may want to re-think sending the family's $200 dollar digital camera to camp and replace it with a $5 single use camera. Swim TestsSwim Tests will be held at Camp on Sunday. If you need time to prepare, start now. You must swim 75 yds using a strong stroke, and 25 yds using the elementary backstroke, then you must float on your back for one minute. You can not touch the sides or bottom during the test.Transportation and ScheduleSat 15 July: Meet at St. John's to load the big trailer. Mr. Deming will announce the time after he coordinates with Mr. Taylor to find out what time the trailer will be there.Sun 16 July: Meet at St. Johns at 7:30 am for sign-in, turn in Brown Bag lunches for the Trip and Car Pool assignments.
Sat 22 July: Depart Camp at 0800 Eastern Time (7:00 Central Time). Stop for Fast Food Lunch at South Pittsburg. Scouts will need to save $5-$6 dollars cash to pay for Lunch on the way home. Remember a Scout is Thrifty or a Scout is Hungry. Arrive back at St. Johns somewhere around 2:00pm (Central Time). We'll try to notify the parents while we're in route. Physical FormsDownload your physical form here: We hope to have dates soon for free physicals for scouts. Adults will need to get a physical from their doctor. You must have an up-to-date physical for Summer Camp. Here are the requirements: Health forms are required for all campers and leaders and MUST be signed by a licensed physician. A Personal Health and Medical Record (Class I and Class II) form is required for youth and adults under 40. Leaders over age 40 MUST use Class III physical forms. The class I section must be updated annually for all participants and signed by the parent (if under 18) indicating the Scouts' general good health. Scouts and leaders participating in any of the off-camp high adventure programs must have a Class III physical. All Ultimate Zone and Woodmont participants must have a current Class III physical, which is no less than 12 months old as of the last day at camp. Health forms should provide specific instructions regarding emergency contacts that can be reached, where and at what time. This is very important. In Summary:
Offsite ActivitiesMost scouts have signed up for offsite activities. (If you have not, you should.) To participate, you need a waiver signed by your parent or guardian.Download your appropriate waiver form here: Adult Leader TrainingOne final note for Adults. Please update your Youth Protection Training before camp. You should do this even if you are not a registered leader. Go to the Greater Alabama Council web site, and click "Leader Training". Then click "Youth Protection Training". Follow the instructions. I have had problems in the past with getting documentation from the council. So if you come to a page that says you completed the course, print it out as proof. (You may also want to update your Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat training).
