It is that time of year again - swim tests!

Location - Dublin Park Indoor Pool

Costs - $4.00 per swimmer, pay at the window in cash or credit card

Equipment - goggles are allowed, no other type of assistance is allowed (swim fins, floaties, etc.)

Each year, every scout and adult who participates in the troop water sports campout in May and/or Summer Camp should take the Scouts BSA swim test to participate in water sports events. Those who do not cannot participate in water sports events at the campout or summer camp. For those taking water sports merit badges at summer camp you must be a swimmer.

To earn the Second Class and First Class ranks, the swim tests are required.

Please click on this sign-up genius link and select a time to take the swim test.  For those needing the 2nd Class and 1st Class requirements, please sign up as well (separate slot from your swim test).

Reminder - the swim test requires participants to jump feet-first into over-the-head water, swim 75 yards strongly (front crawl, breaststroke, or sidestroke), swim 25 yards on the back (resting backstroke), and finish by floating, all in one continuous 100-yard attempt.  A resting backstroke means your hands and arms do not come out of the water.

Those who are not strong swimmers can take the beginners test: Jump into water over head, swim 25 feet (not yards) on the surface, stop, turn, and return to start.

Thank you,

Wes Chaney
