It’s time to sign up for the 2026 Water Sports Campout at Camp Comer on 8-10 May!

Scouts will have the opportunity to participate in kayaking, rowing, sailing, fishing, and swimming. We plan to have a campfire with skits Saturday Night, and we will have ‘S’mores! Daniel will be choosing a Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the campfire. If you're interested in being the campfire MC, please let Daniel know. Being the MC for a campfire program satisfies Requirement 8 for the Communications Merit Badge. The cost for the event is $35 per person attending.

You can register for the Water Sports Campout using the following link: https://forms.gle/k3iiJxMnDkDRvhBJ9

Please keep the following details in mind:

  • Volunteers Needed: We need Assistant Scoutmasters (ASMs) to attend and help monitor Scouts on the lake during these water sports activities.

  • Fishing Gear: Scouts should plan to bring their own fishing rods and gear if they intend to fish.

  • Bug Protection: Since the mosquitoes and other bugs are out at Camp Comer, Scouts should bring pop-up bug nets to use inside the canvas platform tents. Alternatively, Scouts are welcome to bring their own tents to sleep in. Also apply Bug Repellent!

  • Swim Gear: Scouts should bring appropriate swim gear to participate in the water sports activities, as well as dry clothes to change into at the end of the day. Use Sunscreen and swim shirts to prevent sunburn!

  • BSA Swim Test: Scouts must be classified as Swimmers to use the canoes, kayaks, row boats, and sail boats. If you haven’t already done so, Scouts should plan to take the BSA Swim Test on Sunday 3 May at Dublin Park Indoor Pool. Sign up for the Swim Test via the link in Mr. Chaney's email.

  • Safety First! All Scouts using any of the boats must wear Life Jackets and follow all safety instructions given by the ASMs, including adhering to the Buddy System at all times while in the lake. ASMs will be monitoring the lake at all times while Scouts are in the water. Scouts will not be in the lake if there is lightning within 10 miles.

Please sign up for the Water Sports Campout by Friday, 1 May. Thank you!
